How to Clean Your PLA Cutters with Oil (Simple & Effective)

Keeping your cutters clean doesn’t have to be complicated. With just a few everyday items, you can easily restore them to a fresh, like-new condition.

What you’ll need

  • Makeup removing oil or cooking oil
  • A small brush (about the size of a toothbrush)
  • Mild dish soap (if using cooking oil)

Step-by-step

Start with your cutter completely dry.
Apply a small amount of oil directly onto the surface of the cutter.

Using your brush, gently scrub the cutter, getting into all the small details and edges. The oil helps lift away residue without damaging the material.

You can repeat this process a few times for a deeper clean, especially if there’s buildup in fine areas.

Once clean, rinse thoroughly with water.
If you used cooking oil, wash again with a bit of dish soap to remove any remaining grease.

Finally, dry your cutter well — and it’s ready to use again, looking as good as new.

A gentle reminder

PLA is not heat-resistant, so avoid using very hot water during cleaning.
